Native Heir

I adopted Native Heir from MidAtlantic Horse Rescue. Native is a legend in the Virginia area. He was twice the Virginia-bred horse of the year. His career earnings equaled more than $600,000, before being left for slaughter at New Holland.

Native was sent to the kill pens after a sesamoid fracture ended his career. MidAtlantic was having a difficult time placing him due to his rehab needs. I fell in love with his story and decided to offer him a permanent home.

Native is currently being rehabbed and restarted under saddle. He is sound at the walk and improving at the trot. Our vet has cleared him as a trail riding horse – which he excels at. NOTHING phases this horse! Hopefully, he will continue to improve and be sound enough to start his dressage career. Either way, Native has a loving and permanent home with us. He enjoys his life turned out in a large field. Native is a joy to be around and handle. He is definitely a super star and he knows it. His intensely quiet soul is hard to crack into, but once you do, he’s a loving and protective horse. It is an honor to have him on our farm and to bask in his glory.
